All data exchanges between processes during the interpolation are done using yaxt. It supports multiple methods to execute these exchanges. Depending on the system configuration different methods may have varying performance characteristics.
Available exchanger names and their specifics can be found in the yaxt documentation.
The yaxt exchanger method can be configured by an environment variable, which can be set before the start of the program or during runtime (but before End of Definition Phase) by using, for example, the Standard C library routine setenv. This sets the default method for all interpolations.
YAC_YAXT_EXCHANGER=<exchanger_name>
Alternatively, the exchanger method can be set explicitly for each individual coupling, either via the configuration file or the user interface depending on the definition method of the couple.
